Hurghada city, Red sea
Founded in the early 20th century Hurghada has gone on to become the foremost
tourist resort of the Red sea coast and an international center for aquatic
sports. If it takes place in or on water you can do it here : windsurfing,
sailing, deep sea fishing, swimming, snorkeling and diving are many of the
things to enjoy during your holiday in Hurghada. The unique
underwater gardens offshore are some of the finest in the world.
Make a day trip to Giftun Island for snorkeling and a fish barbecue and view
the sea through a glass bottomed boat or in a submarine. A visit to Hurghada
would not be complete without going there.
When you are not in the sea you can shop in the boutiques (prices are not
expensive compared to other parts in the middle east), relax in the
luxury holiday villages, visit the Aquarium or the Roman remains nearby Gebel
Abu Dukhan. Day trips or safaris to explore the Red sea mountains by camel or
jeep are also available. Situated north of Hurghada, the recently constructed El
Gouna beach resort comprises all tourist facilities and a small airport.
