Grand Egyptian Museum
The Grand Egyptian museum is the largest museum in Egypt built on 50 hectares (120 acres) of land approximately two kilometers west of the pyramids of Giza housing more than 50,000 ancient Egyptian artifacts. The main attraction is the first exhibition of the full tomb collection of King Tutankhamun which contains 5000 items. The museum is envisaged as a cultural complex of activities devoted to Egyptology which will contain a 24,000 sqm exhibition space, a children’s museum, conference and education facilities, a large conservation centre and extensive gardens. The construction of the grand museum started in 2012 and cost $795 million, and is expected to be opened by the end of 2018 or early 2019.
